These beings are usually found in literature, such as in folklore or mythology, but they are frequently depicted in various media as well. Etymology and Origins
The word ''giant'' comes from the Greek word gigantes (γίγαντες), which translates to ''earth-born''. In Greek mythology, Giants are depicted as a race of powerful beings that fought against the Olympian gods in Gigantomachy. Nowadays, while the orinigal meaning of the word ''Giant'' still stands, it doesn't necessarily have to refer to these beings. Instead, it can point towards something large or influential.
