It should be noted that, unlike many of the other 'ultra' models, Claude 4.5 Sonnet does not have a non-ultra equivalent. The model is provided by Anthropic, and is part of the Claude Models family. Like the Claude 4 Sonnet, The model is designed to be both powerful and efficient. It's also easier to guide and control, making it useful for many different tasks. It is a next-generation AI model known for its articulate, thoughtful, and humanlike responses. It excels in nuanced understanding, emotional intelligence, and structured reasoning across complex conversations. However, the differences between 4.5 and 4 are subtle and may come down to subjective preferences.

Strengths and Flaws

Ultra Claude 4.5 Sonnet is responsive, it is descriptive, emotive, and all around an incredibly immersive experience without any of the flaws of its predecessors or non-Ultra model. With a bigger memory and large capacity to understand nuances and subtlety, it will bring you in like reading a well-written novel. Compared to the 4 model, the differences are subtle, but the biggest draw will come from its strength in pacing. Whereas 4 Sonnet will often prioritize narration and immersion, 4.5 brings out a much stronger emphasis on balance between narration, inner thoughts, and dialogue.

Although 4.5 solved the balancing issues of sonnet 4's default response style, it comes with a few of its own. Mainly, within the responses, it will tend to make up a personality for {{user}} and sometimes, based on how the {{user}} responds, will make up the {{user}}'s inner thoughts and actions which are often undesirable by many. On top of the responses being very long just like its predecessor.

Common Issues with the Model

Overly Long Responses:

Claude 4.5 Sonnet's detailed and long responses are often expressed by users as being too long. And while this is completely up to each user's preferences, custom prompting can very easily remedy this issue. Something along the lines of adding:

• "({{char}} must reply in under 150 characters)"

Could be a simple and easy way to solve the length problem. Note that, adding the {{char}} command is important when giving instructions to Sonnet as the model may not follow through with it otherwise.

Responding/Narrating as User:

While this could be accepted as a stylistic choice for some, if one prefers to opt out of this, typing in custom instructions such as "{{char}} will not reply as {{user}}" before beginning the conversation is advised.
