The Historical tag refers to anything related to a past era, whether fictional or real. This kind of historical fiction has developed across multiple media: historical novels, historical comic books, historical films, television series, board games, and video games.
For example:
- Bridgerton. Series of eight Regency romance novels written by Julia Quinn. Follows the eight siblings of the noble Bridgerton family as they navigate London high society in search of love, adventure and happiness. The novels have been adapted by Shondaland into a television series titled Bridgerton which premiered in 2020 on Netflix.
- 300. Historical fantasy comic series written and illustrated by Frank Miller and colored by Lynn Varley. Depicts the Battle of Thermopylae led by the King of Sparta, Leonidas I, accompanied by his 300 hippeis (the king’s personal guard) in an attempt to prevent the invasion of Greece by the Persians.
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Role-playing video game developed by the Czech studio Warhorse Studios. A sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the game still takes place in the Kingdom of Bohemia in the early 15th century.
